Camber
Camber is transverse slope provided to the road surface to drain off the rain water from the road surface. It is also called cross slope and the straight road camber is provided by raising the center of carriage way with respect to the edges thus the height point are crown on the central line of carriage way and horizontal curve camber is providing at the outer edges of the carriage way instead of raising center. The rate of camber usually designated by 1 in “n” which means the transverse slope is in the ration of 1 vertical amount of camber mainly depends on
  • Type of road surface
  • Amount of rain fall
Camber should be just sufficient for the efficient drainage of rain water from the road surface.
Shape of Camber          Camber are generally provided in 3 shapes
